New Year, New Car!

Check out my new car, it’s a 2008 Nissan 350Z. Not much planned for this beast, I just want to make it… well maintain it as a great daily driver and a back up drift car ;P

I’ve had the car for about a month so far. This is how it looked when i bought it…

And in the 40 or so days I’ve had it, I’ve put-

Drag-DR53 wheels on it-Sizes 19×9.5 and 19×10.5 Painted with a high metallic gold base coat followed up with House of Kolor Shimrin purple pearl.

BFG GForce Sport tires-Sizes 255/40/19 and 285/40/19

Pioneer AVH5500 double din

And I’ve fixed the panel that had a hole and lots of cracks that goes over the rear strut bar. How I fixed it? Fiberglassed the hole and cracks, painted the main part gloss black, and painted the ‘Z’ emblem the same purple as the wheels.

And Whalahhh!

Not quite finished yet, I would like to finish cleaning up some of the interior pieces that were scratched up a bit when i got it, get a set of JDM Sport coil overs, and a Nismo differential and I’ll be set… Famous last words right?

SevenStock 2013

I know it’s not Z related, but who doesn’t love an RX7?

Here was my experience at SevenStock this year;

First we arrived to Fontana and everyone lines up depending on chassis-you’d think this would be chaotic, but it flowed pretty smooth…

Once we made it into the show, we saw and heard some pretty sweet rotary things…

Caught up with Team All Stars…

IMG_0442And hung out with a group of guys who talk a lot of shit… they call themselves Trash Talk. And these guys own some pretty awesome FD’s.

Jaime from Trash Talk got bit on his inner upper thigh by this dog. the dudes went into a high five and the dog drew blood a little to close for comfort…

IMG_0469Robby (Trash Talker) decided to walk over to this guy in the Porsche that was like 18 feet taller than him. I was trying to get a good shot, this is what i managed to achieve…

The End.

SEMA Part 2/2 – Plus; Girls of SEMA

So I gave my friend Mike creative control over a camera… here’s SEMA from his perspective…

We’ll start with a few of the cars…

Then move on to my poster signing/meet and greet at the JDM Sport booth… This was pretty awesome.

And last but not least… For the fellas… Here are some of the ladies of SEMA…

SEMA 2013 Part 1/2

Amongst the sea of Scion FRS, Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk kits I managed to find some real gems this year, some even went the extra mile to not include the average LS swap. Forget what you imagine about car shows and follow me on the journey though the best show Vegas has to offer. Imagine yourself in one of the massive Las Vegas convention center halls flooded with people from all over the world, gathering to see the most impressive builds of the past, present, and concept builds. This year Greddy brought out a hefty flat gray wide body FRS including illuminated badges and a single greedy turbo 2JZ swap that looked FD ready. Also FD ready was Dai Yoshihara’s upcoming FRS looking like a freshly plucked pearl in the Falken Tires booth. Bumping elbows and getting stepped on was all worth seeing the Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 in the Toyo booth, this thing looked straight up pissed off with its crazy stanced Rotiform wheels and R888s. All serous though ISS forged had one cherry red RWB Porsche sporting black Recaro seats, Takata harness, gold cage and matching lipped wheels. I can sit here and tell you about the cars that caught my eye but theres so many, so heres a quick one, TOYO pink RWB wow, dully rat rod truck OMG, Liberty Walk GTR upside down mount wing like what, yada yada yada, blue rocket bunny, gray rocket bunny, red rocket bunny and another color all parked out front… House of Kolor/Valspar booth really made me drool this year, just imagining all the crazy colors, or Kolors, I should do. On a side note for the ladies, or guys who are in the dog house and need a gift for your woman, they have released a nail polish line! I managed to score purple with blue flake and pink with butter gold flake, although at lunch I flung the pink bottle from my purse which shattered and made quite the mess on the marble floor. Night party night party night party, and last but not least JDM Sport brought out there soon to be track honda S2000 rocking a tightly fit LS swap.

Cars and Coffee With a Side of the Nissan 360 Event

This Labor Day weekend has been awesome. Saturday morning we woke up bright and early before the sun rise to get to Cars and Coffee in Irvine CA.
Nissan Design was there with some vintage Silvia’s and a vintage Skyline race car. Andy Juang brought his R33 Skyline, Symbolic brought four Bugatti Veyron’s, and Magnus Walker brought some cool Porsche’s.

After meeting up with some of the awesome guys from Nissan Design, we cruised down the way to the Nissan 360 experience and got to see some of the concept cars from Nissan and Infiniti, saw some of the Nissans from all over the world with the different designs to fit the different demographics, and saw the GTR GT3-which gave me some ideas on what to do for my Z.

And I know you want to see more of that GTR….

Fitment Rant

So this is something I’ve been thinking about for some time. We say these things or hear these things on a daily basis, ‘fitment’ ‘stance’ ‘hella-(insert whatever comes after hella here)’ ‘stance’ ‘slammed’ ‘stance’ stretched tires’ blah blah blah. Yeah this whole nicely ‘stanced’ thing is in right now but I really think its taking a shit ton of fun and safety away from actually driving.

You bought your car as an enthusiast to make it look nice, I know, but when did we take out the fun of actually driving them and start competing on who can get the lowest. And why the hell are we putting stretched tires on to get even lower!? Which leads me to probably my biggest point to address first…

Stretched Tires; being able to fit a 205 on your 10 inch wide wheel is not cool, it doesn’t impress me. What it does do, that I’m sure most of you arnt thinking about is making me think about the weight of your vehicle. Every size tire has a weight rating, this comes after the tire size and reads similar to this “92W” 92 being the weight rating and W being the speed rating-I’m not even going to get into the speed rating in this rant. That weight rating or ‘load index’ is there for a reason. To keep you safe.
Here is a handy guide from Discount Tire as to how much weight your tires are rated for…
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoLoadIndex.dos
Ever seen a trailer tire blow out on the side of the road while carrying a car or under load? That generally happens from one of two reasons, the tires are old and the rubber is brittle, or the tire couldn’t handle the weight it was carrying. YOUR CAR TIRES WORK THE SAME WAY. Don’t be dumb.

Stance, Slammed, Whatever; Yeah my Z is low, but its not that low. I can make it over speed bumps-slow of course, I can turn corners really fast without rubbing and destroying my tires, and I can run over a McDonalds bag of trash that some ignorant person threw out their window while driving because they didn’t want the shit in there own car, and glance back in my rear view mirror relived that it didn’t get stuck in my radiator or intercoolers. So what’s cooler? Being able to drive your car like it was meant for with style, or hard parking to hide the fact you bought a car and can’t drive it without breaking a fender or your exhaust every time you take it out?

Wheel Spacers; ugh. Ok so I’ve ran spacers, they seemingly are harmless if you run extended studs or have bolt on spacers right? Wrong. Some engineer spent a shit ton of time designing every aspect of your car so everything would work together to last. Two years ago while I was running spacers I went through 3… THREE WHEEL BEARINGS!!! The spacers put a ton of stress on all the other components causing them to wear a lot faster than usual. Now, I know the fact I went through three in one year could’ve been because of added stress of drifting and road racing, or the fact that it had already been a couple years since I changed them-they shouldn’t have gone out that fast.
I no longer run spacers, now I run wheels with a better offset from the start, my wheel bearings are fine still.

Don’t get me wrong, they look nice. I can appreciate a car that has spent some time creating the perfect fitment that works and doesn’t effect how it drives too much. But we buy these cars to drive right? Why put small tires on your car just to make it lower and sacrificing our safety? If I see anything between a 275 and 335 on the rear of a Z, I’m going to know that guy or girl knows what’s up and isn’t a pussy. Get a tire that can handle the weight and power for your vehicle, not something that’s going to stretch the inner makings of the tires-the only things that are on your car that are touching the ground keeping you safe. If you want to replace wheel bearings and other suspension components more frequently, don’t expect them to be covered under warranty if your slammed, expect to pay to play.

470 Rear Wheel Horspower! On 91 Octane. *Video*

Here’s a little bit of the Journey!
Thank you EP Racing… You have built one hell of a smooth engine that I can’t wait to beat the $hit out of.
Thank you to Specialty Z for getting everything dialed in and the tune for my AEM stand alone!
Thank you to Courtesy Parts/Nissan for all of my OE parts, it’s like a brand new Z now!
Thank you to Z1 Motorsports, that PG Exhaust system is the effing loudest thing-seriously tickles my ear drums!
Thank you to Clutch Masters for the 6 puck, clutch kicking will be just aggressive enough.
Thank you Nestor A. For the great deal on the internal engine components!!
And thank you to everyone that helped with the uninstall and install of the motors!

ZDAYZ Oh My!

I have been sitting here for the past five minutes thinking about how to start talking about Zdayz when I came to the conclusion that there isn’t a series of words that can describe it. Its 24 hours of Z craziness every day. The days include Z chats and driving the Tail of the Dragon, pretty normal stuff. The nights… The nights are like a cocktail of bonfire craziness surrounded by everyone that has the same passions you have mixed with many shots of moonshine…many.
The pictures I have are kind of scattered. but take them in whatever order you’d like. They start with the drive there, getting there and all that is ZDAYZ, and the long rainy drive home.

2013 Rodeo Dr. Concourse D’Elegance

Every Fathers Day in Beverly Hills the street of Rodeo Drive closes down and music plays through the streets for a massive car show. Every car in the show is either EXTREMELY rare, expensive, and VERY detail oriented. It’s almost a pre requisite that the car cant have a speck of dust and be worth at least 100K…at least.

This Fathers day Porsche was there for the 50th anniversary of the 911 with a cool booth and awesome vintage porsches around. Ferrari had it’s booth with a few of their new models. The first recorded Ford Model T (1912) was a really cool sight to see, it didn’t seem to be restored which was the coolest part. It looked like a work truck, the interior was very basic with wood, a blanket for the seat and an actual light bulb with a string to turn it on for a dome light. Mclaren was also there displaying their new P1… This thing was awesome. It was so teanie and has so much power… well, here’s a bit of info on it worth reading courtesy of Wiki-
The P1 features a heavily revised version of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine used in the MP4-12C, tuned to 727 bhp. The engine is combined with a highly effective KERS electric motor that produces 176 bhp. The hybrid powertrain is connected to a 7 speed dual-clutch transmission, and will give a total power output of 916PS (903 bhp) at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 900Nm (664 lb ft). The powertrain can run using either the petrol V8 by itself or with the electric motor. The electric motor can be used to power the car on its own, with an all-electric range up 20 km (12 mi) at an average speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). Power for the electric motor is stored in a high density battery pack located behind the cabin. The battery can be charged by the engine or through plug in-equipment, and can fully charge in two hours. The P1 comes with two Formula 1 derived features: The Instant Power Assist System (IPAS) will give an instant boost in horsepower to the petrol engine via the electric motor. The car also comes with a Drag Reduction System (DRS), which operates the car’s rear wing. Both of these features are operated by two buttons on the steering wheel. It is capable of 385 km/h (239 mph), but is electronically limited to 349 km/h (217 mph). The P1 will go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 2.7 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h, or 124 mph in under 7 seconds, and 0 to 300 kmph (186 mph) will be achieved in no more than 17 seconds, making it 5 seconds faster than the legendary McLaren F1. It does this with its set of Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres and can brake quickly with specially developed carbon-ceramic brakes from Akebono.

Enjoy the pictures 🙂
